摘要: We present theoretical X-ray line profiles from a range of model colliding wind systems. In particular, we investigate the effects varying stellar mass-loss rates, speeds and viewing orientation. find that wide profile shapes is possible, with orbital inclination phase. At or near conjunction, lines have approximately Gaussian profiles, small widths (HWHM ∼ 0.1v∞) definite blueshifts redshifts (depending on whether star weaker in front behind). When system viewed at quadrature, are generally much broader ∼v∞), flat-topped unshifted. Local absorption can major effect observed – systems rates few times 10−6 M⊙ yr−1 lower energy (E ≲ 1 keV) particularly affected. This results blueward-skewed especially when through dense primary. The variation linewidths shifts reduced low-inclination binary. extreme case binary i= 0°, for which would expect no variation.
