摘要: S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferses are ubiquitous in nature, methylating a vast range of small molecule metabolites, as well biopolymers. This review covers the recent advances development methyltransferase enzymes for synthetic applications, focusing on catalyzed transformations with S-adenosyl methionine analogs, non-native substrates. We discuss how metabolic engineering approaches have been used to enhance production vivo. Enzymatic that enable more efficient generation including stable will also be described; this has expanded biocatalytic repertoire methyltransferases from methylation broader alkylation reactions. The examines selectivity can improved through structure guided mutagenesis approaches. Finally, we deployed multi-enzyme cascade reactions and suggest future challenges avenues further investigation.
