摘要: Abstract Objectives: To describe the association between impairment and disability during stroke rehabilitation to examine effects of by studying degree reduction experienced patients who did not have significant reductions in levels. Design: Statistical analysis items from a database prospectively collected information on admitted for rehabilitation. Setting: Large urban academic freestanding facility. Participants: Four hundred two consecutively comprehensive acute inpatient Main Outcome Measures: The National Institutes Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) was used measure Functional Independence Measure (FIM SM ) disability. Motor cognitive subscales FIM instrument were evaluated. Raw NIHSS scores converted linear measures using Rasch analysis. Methods: Relationships studied admission, discharge, change regression In second analysis, groups identified; 342 no substantial comprised "no (NIR) group," 60 had level "impairment (IR) group." Multivariate variance determine compare amount motor FJM over time each groups. Results: correlated significantly with subscores measures; R 2 values ranged .02 .36. Both NIR group JR decreases differences discharge relatively small. Conclusions: Although stroke-related are other, reduced alone does fully explain that occurs Even without demonstrate rehabilitation, suggesting has an independent role improving function beyond explained neurologic recovery alone.
