摘要: Abstract Described in this article is development and validation of a process based model for carbon cycling flooded wetlands, called WetQual-C. The considers various biogeochemical interactions affecting C cycling, greenhouse gas emissions, organic export retention. WetQual-C couples with other interrelated geochemical cycles i.e. nitrogen oxygen; fully reflects the dynamics thin oxidized zone at soil-water interface. Using field collected data from small wetland receiving runoff an agricultural watershed on eastern shore Chesapeake Bay, we assessed performance carried out thorough sensitivity uncertainty analysis to evaluate credibility model. Overall, performed well capturing TOC fluctuations study wetland. Model results revealed that over period 2 years, removed or retained equivalent 47 ± 12% OC intake, mostly via decomposition DOC diffusion sediment. appeared as sink rather than source proved its purpose relatively effective low cost mean improving water quality.
