摘要: A 12-year cover crops study on the effects SOC sequestration, storage, retention and loss and corn soybean yields was conducted in southern Illinois. The use of cover crops for maintenance restoration of soil organic carbon (SOC) and productivity previously eroded soils were evaluated. No-till (NT), chisel plow (CP), moldboard (MP) treatment plots with without cover established 2001. plot area sloping a moderately well drained, soil. average annual soybean yields statistically same NT, CP, MP systems crops. By 2012, cover crop treatments had more stock than that layer tillage treatment. MP treatments all sequestered pre-treatment stock baseline rooting zone used to validate finding crops sequestered topsoil, subsoil root CP during study. Additional lost as a result being transported off retained lower slopes, transported stream or released atmosphere.
