摘要: AbstractWestern Central Africa (WCA) was recently shown to be one of the cloudiest areas tropics. Analyzing an ensemble satellite products and surface cloud observations, we show that in June-September, WCA cover is dominated by single-layered low stratiform clouds. Despite under-estimation frequency estimates at night, comparisons with observations bring insights into spatial distribution diurnal cycle Both appear strongly influenced orography: west, coastal plains ocean facing valleys have largest a lower amplitude maximum phased on 04 Local Time (LT).
