Stereological and histopathological evaluation of doxorubicin-induced toxicity in female rats' ovary and uterus and palliative effects of quercetin and vitamin E.

摘要: Doxorubicin (DOX) is a widely used chemotherapeutic agent with demonstrated reproductive toxicity. This study sought to determine the DOX-induced toxicity in ovary and uterus preventive effects of quercetin (QCT) vitamin E (Vit.E). Female rats were divided into six groups as follows: control, QCT (20 mg/kg), Vit.E (200 DOX (accumulative 15 DOX/QCT, DOX/Vit.E. After 3 weeks, ovarian uterine tissues potential palliative evaluated by histopathological-stereological methods. The findings indicate dramatic decline number follicles (p < 0.001), its associated structures volume, volume uterus, layers, related 0.05). Coadministration DOX-treated an alleviative effect on most studied parameters. Nevertheless, few adverse recognized concerning these antioxidants administration In conclusion, this support protective role dietary supplements prevention tissues.
