摘要: • Objectives. —To determine the rate of perforation surgical gloves after ophthalmic surgery and to identify factors that contribute development perforations. Design. —Case-control study used unused collected during a 7-month period. Setting. —The ophthalmology suites major teaching hospital. Main Outcome Measures. —Development glove perforations as measured by five different techniques. Results. —We tested 103 pairs latex before use 454 use. Of techniques test for pinholes, air inflation with water submersion compression was found be most sensitive, yielding 6.80% prevalence in control 21.81% (P=.0005). When examined subspecialty area, lowest (11.39%;P=.00009) occurred cataract intraocular lens highest (41.67%;P=.003) oculoplastic surgery. Factors correlated significantly determined multiple logistic regression analysis included pediatric strabismus surgeries, level training surgeon, duration operation, larger size. The thumb index fingers nondominant hand contained largest numbers pinholes. Conclusions. is relatively high. Recommendations reducing are discussed.
