Knowledge, Expectations and Source of Information of Pregnant Saudi Women Undergoing Second Trimester Ultrasound Examination

摘要: Background: In Saudi Arabia, most antenatal units offer routine Ultrasound Scan (USS) in early and mid-trimester of pregnancy. USS examination is essential source information for the obstetrical management pregnancy as well a joy reassurance mother about wellbeing her baby. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted at obstetrics ultrasound department King Khalid University Hospital Riyadh, Arabia. questionnaire designed to investigate knowledge mothers purpose USS, their expectations provided them addition respondents demographic characteristics. Descriptive statistics were used variables. Association between women’s educational level analyzed with chi-square test. P<0.05 considered significant. Results: 600 women consented completed questionnaire. Most participants 21-30 years age (51.4%) had university education or higher while only 1.8% illiterate. 28-30% thought scan know gender baby confirm that alive. Only 20% reported purposes screen congenital malformations. The obstetrician main nurse least. utilization any increased increase maternal education. Conclusion: mothers’ modest. Utilization healthcare providers other than contemporary technology provision will improve choices put center health care.
