摘要: This essay is an examination of the multifaceted reasons humanities education in American colleges losing standing and funding. Historical, cultural, philosophical perspectives are used to analyze grounds that have justified decreasing levels support for education. Historically, there no longer any external justification provided, as was when Sputnik launched Cold War endured. Culturally, high culture model ascension through accrual cultural signifiers dominant form raising one’s status, it could be initiation. Philosophically, market-based capitalism has become framework current vision humanity under neoliberal ideology, being cut tangential purpose.
