摘要: Oxygen availability limits the maximum potential size attainable in benthic gammaridean amphipods from suborder to generic level, while also influencing within species. In this paper we investigate effect of oxygen on 15 spectra worldwide, established by compiling length data more than 2000 amphipod We used TS95/5 as a proxy for and defined threshold between 95% smallest 5% largest species at any given site. Our show that beside TS95/5, minimum, mean modal sizes, well all 10% increment sizes (from TS10/90 TS90/10) vary significantly with concentration. Size distributions are very similar shape one geographical area another, whatever width spectrum, hence if overall numbers stay constant small should coexist low high latitudes. No were found water an content lower minimum requirement predicted (175 mmol O-2 kg(-1)). adult is probably limited possible egg size, whereas set physico-chemic ceiling availability.
