The object a surrogate fold to provide fold-like motion in non-paper material without undergoing yielding. mechanisms means achieve these objectives large deflections are achieved. purpose this thesis present summary existing compliant joints suitable use folds. In doing so, motions characterized which no joint provides. A series proposed provides many motions. possibility patterning form array discussed. Arrays interesting noted.
