摘要: The measurement of the organic additives in smokeless gunpowder is an attractive approach for detection handgun use because it provides compositional information that can help associate residues and unfired gunpowder. We investigate several factors will be required to advance characterization gunshot residue (OGSR) as a useful forensic tool, including evaluating contamination from previously fired ammunition, particle-to-particle variability, features resulting type firing primer used. Using ammunition loaded with known powders containing different stabilizers, sequence shots was .357 magnum revolver, muzzle exit were collected. Compositional analysis residues, both bulk single particles, showed only trace powder first shot none subsequent shots. In additional experiment testing conventional leaded new lead-free primers, OGSR composition found not depend on type.
