摘要: We have used two techniques to isolate and characterize eye-specific genes from Drosophila melanogaster. First, we identified whose expression is limited eyes, photoreceptor cells, or R7 cells by differential screening with [32P]cDNAs derived the heads of mutant flies that reduced amounts these tissues (Microcephalus, glass3, sevenless, respectively). Secondly, opsin hybridization synthetic [32P]oligonucleotides encode domains been conserved between some genes. found seven clones contain expressed only in eye optic lobes Drosophila; three are cells. One hybridizes previously mentioned oligonucleotides. The complete DNA sequence R7-specific gene its 5' 3' flanking regions was determined. It quite different other known genes, it not interrupted introns shares 37-38% amino acid identity proteins encoded predicted protein structure contains many characteristics common all rhodopsins, differences help identify four rhodopsin molecule evolution.
