One-step synthesis of boron nitride carbon nanosheets containing zinc oxide for catalysis of the oxygen reduction reaction and degradation of organic dyes

摘要: Boron nitride carbon nanosheets containing zinc oxide (ZnO/h-BNC) with a hexagonal B–N bond structure were prepared using scalable, one-step process involving the thermal treatment of glycine, nitrate, graphene and boron oxide. The as-prepared ZnO/h-BNC hybrids active for both electrocatalytic reduction oxygen under alkaline conditions photocatalytic oxidation methyl orange dye. showed much improved onset potential reduced current density compared ZnO/BCN sheets dominant CN configuration reaction (ORR). BNC enriched h-BN an excellent ORR performance, whereas BCN relatively less activity ORR, suggesting intrinsic difference in properties BCN-based materials different configurations. Zn species located inside h-BNC matrix acted as photocatalytically centres degradation dye UV irradiation.
