摘要: Folate is a methyl donor that plays an essential role in DNA synthesis and biological methylation reactions, including methylation. deficiency may be implicated the development of genomic hypomethylation, which early epigenetic event found many cancers, particularly colorectal cancer (CRC). Numerous studies employing vitro systems, animal models, human interventional have tested this hypothesis. Here, we describe folate as one-carbon metabolism cycle, consequences cellular deficiency. The existing evidence on its relationship to discussed using CRC example. While there remain numerous technical challenges important field research, changes intake appear capable modulating levels colonic mucosa potentially alter risk.
