摘要: [1] The mechanisms controlling subsurface temperature variability on the outer shelf in a western boundary upwelling system are quantified using observations from mooring deployed off Cabo Frio, Brazil. Results multiple linear regression analysis reveal that, addition to low-frequency variations associated with seasonal evolution of temperature, dominant wind stress curl–driven upwelling, cross-isobath transport, proximity Brazil Current break, and perhaps changes strength tidal mixing spring-neap cycle. The influence decreases strongly depth, being restricted top 80 m. Regression coefficients indicate that relative contributions different forcings roughly similar no single process has role explaining near break. These suggest successful modeling efforts region must adequately represent each those processes.
