Fiber-Liquid-Level Sensor Based on A Fiber Bragg Grating

摘要: In this paper, we present a fiber sensor using Bragg grating encapsulated in half-polymer-filled metal cylinder for measuring liquid level variation. The operating mechanism of novel design is based on transferring radial pressure into axial strain to induce wavelength shift. For the water-level measurement, sensitivity 1.526×10-5 cm-1 experimentally obtained with very nice linear relationship between center-wavelength shift and water level. This device can be applied measurement different kinds liquids or function as depth underwater vehicles.
