摘要: Background: A wide range of medications are now available for the treatment asthma and selection optimal combination agents is essential. Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate a self-reported drug prescribing pattern among Nigerian doctors in general practice. Methods: It cross-sectional survey conducted practitioners six states Nigeria. Results: For acute severe asthma, 75.9% prescribed intravenous methylxanthines, which combined with oral or inhaled short-acting β2 agonists (SABA) by 56.3% them. Systemic steroids were mainly via route 58.8% Aberrant drugs such as antibiotics, antihistamines, mucolytics 25.6% long-term, follow-up steroids, SABA commonly prescribed, while corticosteroids (ICS) ICS/LABA (long acting beta agonists) infrequently prescribed. analgesics, antimalaria, antihistamines 22.8% About 48% had never attended any form update training on management, whereas, only 16.3% within last year preceding this study. Awareness international guidelines poor them 16.4% being able mention correct guideline management. Conclusion: The anti-asthma behavior these associated low level participation at management awareness guidelines. Medical Association Thoracic Society should urgently address problems.
