摘要: Background Many beliefs about obesity persist in the absence of supporting scientific evidence (presumptions); some despite contradicting (myths). The promulgation unsupported may yield poorly informed policy decisions, inaccurate clinical and public health recommendations, an unproductive allocation research resources divert attention away from useful, evidence-based information. Methods Using Internet searches popular media literature, we identified, reviewed, classified obesity-related myths presumptions. We also examined facts that are well supported by evidence, with emphasis on those have practical implications for health, policy, or recommendations.
