摘要: The technique of a long posterior myocutaneous flap described by Ernest M. Burgess in the late 1960s is one most frequent procedures for below-knee amputations worldwide. To account some potential problems associated with this procedure patients occlusive arterial disease, Lutz Bruckner developed modified amputation transtibial 1980s. Although new standardized has been widely used Germany, it not well known outside central Europe, secondary to its lack description English published work. In review article, we describe comparison technical aspects amputations. addition, charts 69 consecutive end-stage disease undergoing either two (Burgess, n = 29; Bruckner, 40) were reviewed. clinical results are reported and compared. Review German work suggests that techniques appear have similar results. This further supported data from our own 10-year experience procedures. at least equivalent regard outcome disease. advantages compared 'classical' remain be assessed prospective multicentre trials.
