摘要: Background : Acute myocardial infarction is one of the leading causes death in elderly, however clinical data reveals a disproportionately lower use thrombolytics because fear complications especially intracranial haemorrhage. Our objective was to evaluate safety most commonly used thrombolytic streptokinase elderly patients presenting with acute infarction. Methods: This descriptive case series conducted at Punjab Institute Cardiology, Lahore from September December 2012 (4 months). One hundred were randomly selected for study keeping view inclusion and exclusion criteria. All thrombolysed within 12 hours onset symptoms monitored investigated electrical, mechanical biochemical complications. Results: Out 77 (77%) males 23 (23%) females. Mean age 73.39±5.29 years. The two common hypotension (33%) bleeding (19%). Major bleed occurred only 3 (3%) patients. No patient developed Other included arrhythmias (6%), allergic reactions (4%), raised LFTs (6%) RFTs (7%). died related Conclusions: Use should not be discouraged elderly. Keywords: infarction, Streptokinase, Thrombolytics
