“ …like you’re pushing the snowball back up hill ”—the experiences of Australian physiotherapists promoting non-treatment physical activity: A qualitative study

摘要: Participating in physical activity is important for maintaining general health. When physiotherapists promote the purposes of or improving a patient’s health, they are promoting non-treatment activity. Physiotherapists have responsibility to their patients while also providing patient with treatment presenting complaint. This qualitative study explored experiences Australian musculoskeletal conditions. Ten treating conditions private practice and outpatient settings were recruited using social media campaign snowballing. All interviewees received one $AU20 gift card participating. Sixty-minute semi-structured interviews conducted transcribed verbatim. Interpretative phenomenological analysis was used design interview guide analyse data. Transcripts identify emergent superordinate themes. Most female, aged between 25–34 years, physically active reported NTPA. The themes that emerged from transcripts included: Internal external influences on NTPA promotion, approach taken by physiotherapist towards challenges experienced when NTPA, skills training. In conclusion, well-placed but face many challenges. perceived inability motivate become need prioritise expectations hands-on therapy made promotion difficult. Workplace specific factors, such as having an open-plan clinic environment other staff who make easier. Using effective marketing strategies portray physiotherapy might see expect making easier future.
