摘要: Previous studies have shown that complex-spike cells, the most common cell type recorded in hippocampus of freely moving rats, property spatial firing--that is, a will fire rapidly only when animal is particular part its environment (O'Keefe and Dostrovsky, 1971). In current study, we analyze firing theta second major class cells hippocampus, which are thought to correspond nonpyramidal neurons (Fox Ranck, 1975, 1981). Our purposes were extend findings from earlier analyses (McNaughton et al., 1983; Christian Deadwyler, 1986), determine whether specific independent behavior. Theta rats cylindrical enclosure using techniques previously used for analysis (Muller 1987). The patterns individual appeared as complex surface with several regions high low firing. ratio high- low-rate averaged 2.5. These smooth reproducible, but less so than cells. When cue card on wall was moved, remained register cue. Two performed secondary distributions locomotor data segments selected, variations more clear-cut. an attempt test had cell-specific firing, pairs simultaneously. On all occasions, distribution each pair clearly distinctive. support conclusions activity contains signal not other correlates.
