摘要: Purpose: To evaluate the applicability of carbon ion beams for treatment choroidal melanoma with regard to normal tissue morbidity and local tumor control. Methods Materials: Between January 2001 February 2006, 59 patients locally advanced or unfavorably located were enrolled in a Phase I/II clinical trial carbon-ion radiotherapy at National Institute Radiologic Sciences. The primary endpoint this study was morbidity, secondary endpoints control patient survival. Of subjects enrolled, 57 followed >6 months analyzed. Results: Twenty-three (40%) developed neovascular glaucoma, three underwent enucleation eye pain due elevated intraocular pressure. Incidence glaucoma dependent on size site. Five had died analysis, distant metastasis two concurrent disease. All but one patient, who marginal recurrence, controlled locally. Six metastasis, five liver lung. Three-year overall survival, disease-free rates 88.2%, 84.8%, 97.4%, respectively. No apparent dose–response relationship observed either dose range applied. Conclusion: Carbon-ion can be applied an acceptable sufficient antitumor effect, even tumors unfavorable
