Metallothermic reduction of zinc sulfide induced by ball milling

摘要: Stoichiometric mixtures of ZnS + Al and Mg were milled for different times in a planetary ball mill. The XRD traces the as-milled samples showed presence zinc, MgZn2, MgS after 30-min milling ZnS–Mg system. MgZn2 disappeared 1-h reduction reaction seemed to have been completed 5-h milling. ZnS–Al system was somewhat with only slight zinc 1 h peaks still present 10 Isothermal heating under argon atmosphere 3-h-milled hexagonal ZnAl2S4 Zn0.68Mg0.32S systems, respectively. These results show that progressed gradually during decrease crystallite size reactants materials (especially ZnS) operation led formation temperature phase transformation sphalerite (ZnS) wurtzite.
