Douglassciurus, new name for Douglassia Emry and Korth, 1996, not Douglassia Bartsch, 1934

摘要: We recently proposed the generic name Douglassia for a species of fossil squirrel (Sciuridae, Rodentia) from latest Eocene western North America (Emry and Korth, 1996). The was originally Sciurus jeffersoni Douglass, 1901, but had subsequently been included by Black (1963) in his genus Protosciurus. is preoccupied by, junior homonym of, turritid mollusk Bartsch, 1934. Douglassciurus here as replacement Emry 1996. Like Sciurus, gender masculine. therefore becomes combination (Douglass, 1901). Acknowledgments thank Christian F.
