摘要: Abstract Safety instrumented systems (SISs) are commonly used in the process industry, to respond hazardous events. In line with important standard IEC 61508, SISs generally classified into two types: low-demand and high-demand systems. This article explores this classification by studying SIS reliability for varying demand rates, durations, test intervals. The approach is based on Markov models exemplified simple system configurations. quantified probability of failure (PFD) frequency entering a state that will lead an accident if situation not controlled additional barriers. concludes very similar may be treated as group. same applies system.
