摘要: The biological basis of mood is not understood. Most research on and affective states has focused the roles brain systems containing monoamines (e.g., dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin). However, it becoming clear that endogenous opioid in may also be involved regulation mood. In this review, we focus potential utility kappa-opioid receptor (KOR) ligands study treatment psychiatric disorders. Research from our group others suggests KOR antagonists might useful for depression, agonists mania, partial stabilization. Currently available agents have some unfavorable properties addressed through medicinal chemistry. development KOR-selective with improved drug-like characteristics would facilitate preclinical clinical studies designed to evaluate possibility KORs are a feasible target new medications.
