摘要: Abstract Phosphorus (P) is an important nutrient, whose concentrations are declining in many European forest ecosystems. Here, we selected five old-aged temperate beech ( Fagus sylvatica ) forests that represented a sequence of decreasing soil P resources. We addressed the following hypotheses: (i) root correspond to concentrations, when availability suboptimal for tree nutrition, (ii) and increasing host demand foster ectomycorrhizal fungal (EMF) species richness lead shift EMF community structure towards exploration. found decrease along geosequence was less steep organic layer than mineral topsoil. roots showed positive relationship with soil, stronger correlation coarse fine roots. This finding indicates low mainly affected storage host. The tips were completely colonized EMF. In biomass higher saprophytic fungi, correlated inorganic (P i ). topsoil about 10-fold lower saprophytes microbial P, but not EMF, phosphatase activities. Based on these results, propose nutrition achieved by layer. Variation unrelated decreased N structures taxonomically divergent filtered habitat chemistry between P-rich P-poor forest. Changes taxonomic did result corresponding changes conclusion, our results support roots, do mono-causal relationships or hyphal Our suggest dissimilarities gradient driven nutrient resources
