摘要: In order to identify the thyrotropic cells in pituitary gland of Cichlasoma biocellatum, adult animals were treated with thyroxine. Periodic acid Schiff (PAS)- and aldehyde fuchsin (AF)-positive, Alcian blue (AB)-negative basophils meso-adenohypophysis as well thyroid strongly inactivated by such treatment. Since other cell types adenohypophysis not affected, it is concluded that PAS-positive AB-negative are thyrotrops. normal thyrotrops very active. Propylthiouracil did cause a further activation TSH cells. Keeping 25% sea-water caused strong inactivation prolactin cells, thyroid. deionized water stimulated, but was less active than controls. Injections ovine enhance activity salt animals. It suggested biocellatum does have direct stimulatory effect on
