摘要: Abstract Background: An association between abnormal changes in reproductive endocrine function during the perimenopause and onset of depression some women has been suggested but remains controversial. Methods: We examined basal plasma hormone levels two samples with well characterized, first (major or minor) matched comparison groups asymptomatic women. Results were compared by analysis variance. Results: No significant diagnosis-related differences observed measures following: follicle stimulating (FSH), luteinizing (LH), estradiol (E2), estrone (E1), total (T) free testosterone (FT), E2/LH ratio. did identify significantly lower morning dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) its sulphated metabolite DHEA-S (but not cortisol) depressed to non-depressed group. Women hot flushes (regardless presence depression) older than without flushes, had higher FT, LH FSH, ratios. Conclusions: are distinguished from controls on basis ovarian estrogens, testosterone, gonadotropins. However, perimenopause-related E2 may interact low DHEA increase their vulnerability develop depression. In contrast vasomotor symptoms, is associated a simple deficiency state. The relatively E1 have met statistical significance much larger homogenous sample.
