摘要: Abstract The anti-inflammatory activity of the citrus pectins, CU701 and CU201, with low high degrees methylesterification (LM HM), respectively, was studied after oral administration in mice using three models inflammation: acetic acid-induced colitis, cytokine production by blood leukocytes response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) endotoxin shock. Oral either or CU201 24 h before infusion acid into colon found prevent progression colitis. However, decrease adhesion peritoneal granulocytes their reactive oxygen species colitic mice, whereas had no effect on granulocyte activity. Only tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) release increase interleukin-10 (IL-10) mice. production. CU701, but not improve survival rate that were subjected a lethal dose LPS. present study demonstrates LM pectin would be more efficient agent than HM upon administration. inhibit both local systemic inflammation, shown intestinal inflammation.
