摘要: We describe an algorithm for retrieving geophysical parameters over the ocean from SSM/I observations. This is based on a model brightness temperature (TB) of and intervening atmosphere. The retrieved are near-surface wind speed W, columnar water vapor V, cloud liquid L, line-ofsight WLS. restrict our analysis to scenes free rain, when detects retrievals discarded. precisely calibrated using very large in situ data base containing 37,650 overpasses buoys 35,108 radiosonde sites. A detailed error indicates that TB rms accuracy between 0.5 1 K retrieval accuracies wind, vapor, 0.9 m/s, 1.2 mm, 0.025 respectively. specifying will introduce additional 10% retrieval. spatial resolution these 50 km. systematic errors smaller than errors, being about 0.3 0.6 0.005 mm L. one exception − 1.0 m/s occurs observations within ±20° upwind. inclusion line-of-sight WLS significantly reduces due direction variations. upwind reduced 3.0 m/s. Finally, we find small signal 19 GHz, h-pol residual ∆TBH related effective air pressure profile. information may be some use vertical distribution vapor.
