TEMPO-mediated oxidation of native cellulose: Microscopic analysis of fibrous fractions in the oxidized products

摘要: Abstract The 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxy radial (TEMPO)-mediated oxidation was applied to aqueous suspensions of cotton linters, ramie and spruce holocellulose at pH 10.5, water-insoluble fractions the TEMPO-oxidized celluloses collected by filtration with water were analyzed optical transmission electron microscopy others. results showed that both fibrous forms microfibrillar nature original native maintained after TEMPO-mediated oxidation, even though carboxylate aldehyde groups 0.67–1.16 0.09–0.21 mmol/g, respectively, introduced into fractions. Neither crystallinity nor crystal size cellulose I changed under conditions adopted in this study. Carboxylate mapped labeling lead ions as their counter ions. micrographs indicated some heterogeneous distribution along each microfibril or bundle microfibrils seemed be present celluloses.
