摘要: In order to meet whole-house energy savings targets beyond 50% in residential buildings, it will be essential that new technologies and systems approaches developed address miscellaneous electric loads (MELs). These MELs are comprised of the small diverse collection energy-consuming devices found homes, including what commonly known as plug (televisions, stereos, microwaves), along with all hard-wired do not fit into other major end-use categories (doorbells, security systems, garage door openers). present special challenges because their purchase operation largely under control occupants. If no steps taken MELs, they can constitute 40-50% remaining source use homes achieve 60-70% savings, this percentage is likely increase future home electronics become even more sophisticated becomes widespread. Building America (BA), a U.S. Department Energy research program by 2015 90% 2025, has begun identify develop advanced solutions reduce MELs.
