These farm grasslands, especially the hay-meadows, are major international conservation importance, supporting an abundance plants, animals and vegetation communities that have disappeared from most Europe. The Saxon villages area southern Transylvania in particular comprises a High Nature Value farmed landscape, where rich biodiversity co-exists alongside traditional agriculture. Continued management is required to maintain mosaic habitats. Landscape protection sustainable development must reconcile grassland other biodiversity-rich habitats with provision adequate incomes community infrastructure. Fundaţia ADEPT (Agricultural Development Environmental Protection Transylvania), has been established address these issues, placed special emphasis on permanent which occupy central position plant conservation, high-quality local food products eco-tourism Villages.
