摘要: Productivity measurements of organisms attached to artificial substrates ranged from 6.5 7.6 mg C/m/sup 2//hr and were 17 65 percent greater in stirred bottles (simulated flow) than under static conditions. Carbon-14 was used determine the effect current on primary productivity these six streams at Flowing Streams Laboratory Savannah River Plant (U.S. Energy Research Development Administration, Aiken, South Carolina, U.S.A.). Seasonal changes dominant monitored June 1973 March 1974. Estimates productivity, accumulated biomass, levels chlorophyll ..cap alpha.. compared for possible correlation. Production 50 381 mg/m/sup 2/, biomass 45 181 g/m/sup 2/ (glass microscope slides) during period study. generally an order magnitude phytoplankton or tychoplankton. The consistently higher simulated flowing systems tends cast some doubt values obtained when lotic communities have been enclosed isolated chambers wthout inducing a stirring action.
