摘要: The level of storminess in Ireland during the winter 2013/2014 was exceptional, effects which cost Irish state excess €260 million infrastructure repair and insurance claims. In Ireland, a lack coastal process data from monitoring programmes means that response protective barrier coasts to such events remains largely un-investigated. This study addresses this issue through an examination geomorphic impacts recent storms, including those occurred 2013/2014, on breached southwest coast Ireland. Data two-year terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) campaign shows caused major (>50 m) dune recession at Rossbehy, County Kerry. Results simple linear regression analysis indicate storm duration plays important role removal foredunes site. Given fact frequency intense storms vicinity is forecast increase within next century, scientific understanding critical inform sound management practices. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
