摘要: The nighttime light (NTL) imagery acquired from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Day/Night Band (DNB) enables feasibility of investigating socioeconomic activities at monthly scale, compared with annual study using data Defense Meteorological Satellite Program/Operational Linescan System (DMSP/OLS). This paper is first attempt to discuss quantitative correlation between composite VIIRS DNB NTL and statistical electric power consumption (EPC), 14 provinces southern China as area. Two types regressions (linear regression polynomial regression) nine kinds different treatments are employed in experiments. demonstrates that: (1) acquire higher reliability, whose average R square 0.8816, linear regressions, 0.8727; (2) denoised threshold 0.3 nW/(cm2·sr) EPC steadily exhibit strongest reliability among processed data. In addition, for 12 months constructed, values mean absolute relative error 0.8906 16.02%, respectively. These established optimal equations can be used accurately estimate each province, produce thematic maps EPC, analyze their spatial distribution characteristics.
