摘要: To facilitate development of tailored management strategies for bait species within Knysna Estuary (South Africa), demand bait, harvesting activity and perceptions around conservation among recreational subsistence fishers were investigated. In 2015 2016, collectors interviewed (n = 84) observed 167) during low tides at six sites peak off-peak holiday periods. Significant associations their favoured species, collecting spots method, frequency collection, views on regulations desired daily limit mudprawns suggest differences that may warrant different strategies. Furthermore, methods duration differed according to site, suggesting spatial variation in baiting pressures. Subsistence potentially collect more frequently than do consequently have a greater impact mudprawn populations. By contrast, polychaete worms, but because they are mainly active holidays, these be localised not yet critical. Most would like increased bag limits, sell welcome rotational zonation scheme replace the current permanent exclusion zone. The merits disadvantages options suggestions discussed.
