摘要: The present study explores the long-term changes (1971–2001) in socio-economic structure of a monocentric Mediterranean urban region (Rome's province, central Italy) undergoing moderately polycentric development. Descriptive and correlation statistics multiway factor analysis (MFA) have been used to analyse spatio-temporal evolution 24 indicators made available at district/municipal scale. disparities observed along urban-rural gradient 1971 decreased only 2001. MFA clearly separates districts from suburban municipalities both Results indicate that exurban development has impacted partly Rome's form which remained mainly compact dense with persisting gaps between areas. paper discusses partial failure master plan promote really new, more sustainable, form.
