摘要: Abstract Sales of nutrition bars increased almost 10-fold to $1.7 billion over the past decade yet few studies have examined impact bar ingestion on dietary parameters. In this crossover trial, 24-h energy intakes were assessed in free-living college students ingesting a high-protein (HP, 280 kcal) or high-carbohydrate (HC, 260 kcal) upon waking. Fifty-four entered and 37 participants completed three test days. Daily ranged from 1752 ± 99 kcal for non-intervention day 1846 ± 75 1891 ± 110 kcal days HP HC consumed respectively (p = 0.591). However, individuals who reported high levels physically activity (n = 11), daily significantly compared control (+45%; p = 0.030) (+22%; p = 0.038). Macro- micro-nutrient differed across total sample mirroring nutrient profile specific bars. These data suggest that young adults adjust caloric appropriately following energy-dense period. Moreover, may represent unique opportunity favorably influence status adults.
