摘要: Abstract. There is a clear need for the development of modelling frameworks both climate change and air quality to help inform policies addressing these issues simultaneously. This paper presents an initial attempt develop single framework, by introducing greater degree consistency in meteorological framework using two-step, one-way nested configuration models, from global composition-climate model (GCCM) (140 km resolution) regional covering Europe (RCCM) (50 km finally high (12 km) resolution over UK (AQUM). The latter used produce routine forecasts UK. All three models are based on Met Office's Unified Model (MetUM). In order better understand impact downscaling projections future quality, we have this nest simulate 5-year period present-day emissions under conditions. We also consider running higher-resolution with higher spatial emissions, rather than simply regridding RCCM. present evaluation compared situ observations UK, plus comparison against independent 1 km gridded dataset, derived combination observations, effectively producing analysis annual mean surface pollutant concentrations. show that high-resolution has some benefits improving modelling, but use important capture local variations concentrations, particularly primary pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide sulfur dioxide. For secondary ozone component PM10, more limited reasons discussed. study highlights point not only factor determining performance – between important.
