摘要: Ice sheet modelling of Antarctica supports a generally accepted view that most, if not all, currently ice free ground would have been obliterated at the LGM or previous maxima. However, several recently emerged and complementary strands biological research cannot be reconciled with this reconstruction Antarctic glacial history, therefore challenge existing paradigm. In review, we summarise synthesise evidence across these lines of research. This points to large elements contemporary terrestrial biota having long continuous, but isolated, history within region. These examples relate all timescales relevant continental evolution (Gondwana breakup Holocene), are spatially distributed much continent.
