摘要: The present invention relates to a method and system for design routing in telecommunications networks having transparent elements such as photonic switches. Transparent optical transmit signals optically, performing both switching amplification photonically. As result, may be more economical than conventional 'opaque' that convert electronic form at each network node because they do not require much equipment optical­-electrical conversion. However, pose new operational challenges. Physical-layer impairments are repaired by optical-electrical-optical (OEO) regeneration can accumulate along (transparent) connection paths. To effectively deploy utilize transparency, mechanisms assure impairment-feasible paths exist identified the required. provides: 1) locating OEO-­regeneration capability existence of 2) identifying OEO-capable nodes. first is related design, which models problem variation connected dominating set problem. second routing, transforms impairment-aware into shortest-path an expanded network. methodology employs domination connectability concepts enable sparser placement OEO within networks. Further, provides mechanism finding feasible routes with respect impairment constraints while minimizing use interfaces feasibility.
