Failure Processes in Embedded Monolayer Graphene under Axial Compression

摘要: Exfoliated monolayer graphene flakes were embedded in a polymer matrix and loaded under axial compression. By monitoring the shifts of 2D Raman phonons rectangular various sizes load, critical strain to failure was determined. Prior loading care taken for examined area flake be free residual stresses. The values first found independent size at mean value –0.60% corresponding yield stress up -6 GPa. combining Euler mechanics with Winkler approach, we show that unlike buckling air, presence constraint results fixed an estimated wrinkle wavelength order 1–2 nm. These compared DFT computations performed on analogue coronene/PMMA oligomers reasonable agreement obtained.
