摘要: Abstract We have investigated the mechanisms whereby Escherichia coli endotoxin exerts its exudative effects, by using an isolated rat mesentery placed as a separation membrane between two compartments of diffusion cell. The permeability coefficient albumin ( P A ) can be easily computed from equilibration rate 125 I-labeled added to one compartment. E. increased in concentration-related manner. Direct measurements revealed early and transient increase cyclic AMP prostaglandin E-immunoreactive material. These effects could inhibited indomethacin. Calcium-depleted tissues low , even though levels still endotoxin. If incubations were prolonged beyond 90 min, remained elevated, but E fell control values. Similar results observed with trypsin-treated tissues. suggest that transmesenteric passage is presence During earlier part incubation (up min), related local synthesis E, are controlled intracellular calcium levels. longer (90–280 min) mesothelial exfoliation occur, allowing free through remaining interstitial tissue.
