摘要: Despite the importance of forest edges in ecology, only one study has previously been carried out New Zealand on modification climate across edges. We measured light exposure, wind speed, air and soil temperature, vapour pressure deficit (VPD) perpendicular to a north-south aligned, mature, edge native broadleaf rainforest adjoining grazed pasture. At point 80 m into from edge, was c. 0.7% speed 20% that open, there much less diurnal fluctuation temperature VPD. The gradient microclimate near as with third (mobile) weather station, abrupt for similar pattern almost complete change over about 10 m. steep VPD, at least 40 being required stabilise these variables when directed forest. These findings suggest buffers may be needed protect reserves streams climatic exposure.
