摘要: The work reported here represents a first attempt at comparing the mineralogical aspects of weathering effects in selected Antarctic chondrites with those present petrologically similar chondrite which was weathered Arizona desert. methods analysis employed include X-ray diffractometry, differential thermal analysis, and reflectance spectrophotometry. It is found that dominant products rocks are complex, multiple-phase, hydrous ferric oxides formed by alteration Ni-Fe metal sulfide particles under influence liquid water. Fe-oxide may comprise approximately 15-20 wt % most intensely samples although same contain not more than 5% goethite as only well-crystallized oxide.
